Portfolio > Painting as...

I have always worked with abstract shapes/forms in observation of the world around me. I’m inspired by Pop Art and the vivid color within my work is a direct result of that influence. I think of pattern as an extension of popular culture and as a connection to economic, social, and ethnic identifiers. My work seeks to make connections from drawing to painting to fabric to sculpture and back again suggesting the familiar and the unknown while engaging viewers.

The work in the section are extensions of painting as (interactive, sculptural, and material). Can a painting be rearranged in different configurations, can it occupy space, and does it have to include paint? These are the questions I am asking in this section while still maintaining the premise of identity through pattern.
